Apartment living for young professionals

Moving into her new two bedroom apartment at Woodilee Village just before Christmas 2011 was exciting for 26-year-old Claire Brockie, as a first-time buyer moving into her very own new home! And in May 2012 it will be the turn of her sister, 22-year-old Stephanie, who moves into a one bedroom apartment which she has bought at the development.

Claire BrockieThe sisters have lived in Lenzie all their life with their parents in the family home and when the apartments from Charles Church came onto the market for sale, both were delighted to discover a property to suit the requirements and enable them to get onto the housing ladder.

Claire explains:  “It is difficult for young people to get into the housing market, particularly in Lenzie, where there is a real shortage of properties suitable for first-time buyers.  When we discovered the Charles Church apartments being built at Woodilee Village were affordable for us, we both bought immediately.”

Claire loves her new home, particularly the spaciousness, high standard of finish and the fully fitted and well-equipped kitchen.  She is also delighted to have her own place for the first time, with its location overlooking the tree-lined driveway into the development, and enjoys views across to the Campsies.

Working as a radiographer at the Beatson Clinic in Glasgow, Claire is handy for travelling by train into the city, and the local pub, Carriages, is also within walking distance.

Charles ChurchThere are two friends from her high school days who have also bought apartments here, so they are enjoying catching up. And it won’t be long until her sister becomes another close neighbour!

Stephanie has bought a one bedroom apartment and, like Claire, jumped at this opportunity to get into the housing market as a first-time buyer. Stephanie comments: “I can’t wait to move in and it’s great that we are staying local, being close to mum and dad, while having our own places.  The environment at Woodilee Village is lovely, we knew it in its days as a hospital, and the woodland setting is very picturesque.”

Charles ChurchDriving to her job a nurse at the Royal Infirmary in Glasgow will be an easy commute for Stephanie, and in her free time she will still enjoy using the Leisure Centre in Kirkintilloch, where she regularly plays mixed five-a-side football with friends from school.

With the opportunity to upgrade to a bigger home within Woodilee Village should they settle down and have a family, it looks as if Claire and Stephanie will enjoy living here for some time to come!
